{"id":933,"date":"2018-04-01T19:08:29","date_gmt":"2018-04-01T19:08:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/?p=933"},"modified":"2019-06-05T12:54:30","modified_gmt":"2019-06-05T17:54:30","slug":"singlemom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/singlemom\/","title":{"rendered":"I Am Stronger Than I Ever Wanted To Be"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You&#8217;ve heard the staying the Lord does not give us more than we can handle. \u00a0 I never knew I could handle everything in my life but I did and now I am stronger than I ever wanted to be.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_935\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-935\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/singlemom\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-935 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/644_44082473490_1641_n-2-300x272.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"272\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/644_44082473490_1641_n-2-300x272.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/644_44082473490_1641_n-2.jpg 527w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-935\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My three sons<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>It was tough being a single mom with three boys.<\/h3>\n<p>Thankfully life has a way of getting better even when you think it never will.<\/p>\n<p>I was a single mom with three boys for a long time.\u00a0 It was tough.\u00a0 What was tougher was that I didn&#8217;t work from home.\u00a0 What was even tougher than that was my two youngest have autism.\u00a0 Commuting to an office made it very hard for myself and my oldest son.\u00a0 My oldest son is 10 years older than my next, second son.\u00a0 He was in charge when I could not be home.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of things were taken away from him socially by having to be responsible for his brothers while I was out trying to make a living.\u00a0 He didn&#8217;t date.\u00a0 He didn&#8217;t go to prom and he was constantly worried about his brothers.\u00a0 After he graduated from high school he wanted to join the military but delayed that because I could not work and take care of his brothers without him.\u00a0 He cared so much about me that he didn&#8217;t want to leave me with so much to do without him.<\/p>\n<p>After my oldest son graduated from high school I met a man.\u00a0 I actually when to high school with this man but we never socialized or were even friends.\u00a0 I just knew who he was.\u00a0 We started dating and he came over to meet my children.\u00a0 Now my youngest at the time had self-injurious behavior and it was bad.\u00a0 It was so bad that most of his days at school were just to keep him from harming himself.\u00a0 This man was going to meet my sons with autism and the behavior that goes along with it.\u00a0 I just knew the moment my son starting hitting himself or any number of things I could imagine, this relationship would be over.\u00a0 Hey, if he was going to leave because of this then better sooner than later.\u00a0 It is what it is.<\/p>\n<p>Guess what?\u00a0 He stayed and we got married. Their own father dropped them off the day after Thanksgiving years ago and we never heard from him again. My husband stepped up and became their dad.<\/p>\n<p>My oldest son did go into the Navy and after he was discharged got a college degree.\u00a0 Chaz is a personal trainer and is helping me get healthy.\u00a0 My second son with Asperger&#8217;s Syndrome has overcome so many obstacles such as being considered the &#8220;weird&#8221; or &#8216;quirky&#8221; kid to the funniest, smartest guy you will ever know.\u00a0 He is in college working on his Bachelor&#8217;s degree in media arts and animation.\u00a0 Then there is my is youngest.\u00a0 He hasn&#8217;t hit himself in a long time.\u00a0 He is in high school and learning.\u00a0 My kids and I have come a long way.<\/p>\n<p>I still work full time but now I work at home and I have done that since 2009. \u00a0 My boys and I needed for this to happen so that we could heal and learn and grow.\u00a0 It&#8217;s still tough at times.\u00a0 We are no ordinary family and we have gone through a lot. We are a family of eight.\u00a0 My husband had three kids of his own.\u00a0 All of our kids are now grown and on their own but we made it through all the challenges and obstacles and we are a closer family.<\/p>\n<p>My oldest son did make a lot of sacrifices for all of us but in the end, it made him a better man.\u00a0 A man with compassion and empathy and a great love for his brothers.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder what the future holds for us and how much farther my kids will go in their lives with all their triumphs.\u00a0 Only time will tell.\u00a0 As for the present time, I am a grateful mom and wife\u00a0 and I just keep getting stronger.<\/p>\n<p>Until next time,<\/p>\n<p>Kari<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You&#8217;ve heard the staying the Lord does not give us more than we can handle. \u00a0 I never knew I could handle everything in my life but I did and now I am stronger than I ever wanted to be.
