{"id":1973,"date":"2019-09-13T07:24:27","date_gmt":"2019-09-13T12:24:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/?p=1973"},"modified":"2020-01-11T16:15:00","modified_gmt":"2020-01-11T22:15:00","slug":"2miles30days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/2miles30days\/","title":{"rendered":"My Challenge Of Walking 2 Miles 30 Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/2miles30days\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1981 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2miles30days-twitter-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2miles30days-twitter.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2miles30days-twitter-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2miles30days-twitter-768x384.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3>I Took A Challenge<\/h3>\n<p>You are not going to believe what happened when I walked 2 miles in 30 days.<\/p>\n<p>I have been unmotivated about getting healthy.\u00a0 I know I should work on getting healthy and I know I don\u2019t look good.\u00a0 Still, until last month, I was lazy and didn\u2019t care.<\/p>\n<p>How do you get healthy?\u00a0 I have tried every diet possible and some worked for the short term, but ultimately, I failed them all.\u00a0 I believe that since I have tried so many diets it has become counter-intuitive and caused me to gain weight in the long run.\u00a0 The question, how do you get healthy is different depending on who you ask and who is selling something.\u00a0 I was confused and just gave up.\u00a0 At this point, I am still failing and turned to walking every day.<\/p>\n<p>Exercising was no different.\u00a0 Do cardio but stay in fat-burning mode. Uh\u2026fat-burning mode?\u00a0 You mean you want my heart rate up but now I must make sure it stays below a certain number of beats a minute? \u00a0Don\u2019t go fast, keep your heart rate down and get into fat-burning mode, not a cardio mode or you won\u2019t lose as much fat.\u00a0 What?\u00a0 I didn\u2019t even know that you should go slow or fast in order to lose fat or not. Who made this up?\u00a0 Then others say, don\u2019t do cardio, do weight training.\u00a0 I mean, can anything get more confusing?<\/p>\n<h3>My Inspiration<\/h3>\n<p>I saw a post on Facebook from a girl that I went to high school with.\u00a0 I had already seen she had lost 50 pounds.\u00a0 I had no idea she was 50 pounds overweight.\u00a0 She looked fine to me but then I saw her \u201cafter\u201d picture, and she looked thinner but more importantly, she looked and happier and seemed excited about the new her she had become.\u00a0 I was inspired.\u00a0 She was the same age as me.\u00a0 I am more than 50 pounds overweight.\u00a0 She could get what I was going through, right?<\/p>\n<p>Her post was about walking 2 miles every day for 30 days.\u00a0 She was walking 2 miles for 30 days and it was a challenge from one of her friends.\u00a0 It was a time to walk and talk with God.\u00a0 How wonderful was this?\u00a0 I knew this was a challenge for me.\u00a0 I could at least walk 2 miles a day.<\/p>\n<p>Walking was not going to be easy. I have a full-time job where I sit all day and I\u00a0 am busy and taking time for me was not in the cards.\u00a0 Finally, I decided no more excuses.\u00a0 I had to get my butt up, put down my wonderful, creamy ice cream and get to walking.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1983 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2miles-stay-Positive.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2miles-stay-Positive.jpg 728w, https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2miles-stay-Positive-300x37.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Time To Get Going<\/h3>\n<p>Here is what happened when I started walking 2 miles.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I couldn\u2019t breathe or talk for the first couple of days.\u00a0 Yes, I was only walking but it was much tougher than I thought.\u00a0 My arches started hurting and my knees starting hurting.\u00a0 After a few days, this was all gone.\u00a0 I could breathe must better and I wasn\u2019t hurting.\u00a0 I did hurt later but it was a good, working out hurt.<\/li>\n<li>I was sleeping better. This was a real surprise to me.\u00a0 I walk very early in the morning, so it was not like I was exhausted walking after a long day and I wasn\u2019t waking up any earlier to walk.\u00a0 This was a great bonus.<\/li>\n<li>I had more energy. This must go along with getting good sleep because, within a week, I could really feel a difference.\u00a0 As time went on, I could think more clearly and was less distracted at work.<\/li>\n<li>I lost inches. This was another surprise because I had only lost about two pounds the whole 30 days but I felt different.\u00a0 I put my hands on my hips and there wasn\u2019t as much hip.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"#cbb17ca373\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2064\" src=\"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/want-access-box-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Free library access\" width=\"457\" height=\"257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/want-access-box-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/want-access-box-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/want-access-box-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/want-access-box-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/thekindredway.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/want-access-box.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 457px) 100vw, 457px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In 25 days of walking I had lost 2 inches off my waist, 1.5 inches off my chest, 3.5 inches off my hips, 0.5 inches off my forearm, 1 inch off my thighs, 0.5 inches off my upper arm and .75 inch off my neck. Get this&#8230;I gained 0.5 inches in my calves. I am good with that.<\/p>\n<p>The best part is that I did it.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t fail as I have with so many other things when it comes to my health.\u00a0 I am very proud of that.\u00a0 Having my friends join me on this challenge was also a big bonus.\u00a0 Even though we didn\u2019t walk together, we posted each day the number miles we had walked and supported each other and that is priceless.<\/p>\n<p>What do you do when you finish a challenge?\u00a0 You sign up for a 5k run and you start walking 2 miles for 30 days all over again.\u00a0 Time for round 2!<\/p>\n<p>Stay tuned for my first 5k adventure.\u00a0 This should be interesting.<\/p>\n<p>Until next time,<\/p>\n<p>Kari<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I Took A Challenge You are not going to believe what happened when I walked 2 miles in 30 days.
